Introduction
Beech wood is strong, durable and lustrous. Neither the grain pattern nor the sapwood are readily discernable. As a result, the predominating feature of Beech is its color. In this respect, Irish Beech differs from the common European'White'Beech, in that the colors are warmer, varing in hues from tan to red. It has a fine, smooth texture and finishes well. Beech flooring is available in 80mm widths only. This floor was laid in the conservatory of a house in co.Tipperary.

General Description
Beech occurs widely throughout the country, particularly on limestone soils. The wood is typically pale to light orange with pinkisk streaks. Mature Parkland trees tend to have a more pronounced reddening. This type of Beech is known as Flamy Beech.
Shown above is an 80 mm Beech floor. The mild color variances and smooth lustrous finsh give Beech a modern appeal as distinct from the traditional charachter of Oak. The noteable toughness make it suitable for heavy traffic areas.
